23 COUNTRIES TO JOIN 11TH CEBU MARATHON
Runners from 23 countries will be taking part in the 11th edition of the Cebu Marathon slated on Jan. 14
Twenty-three countries will be represented when the 11th Cebu Marathon takes place on Jan. 14 next year at the Cebu Business Park.
The countries represented will be Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Switzerland, China, Germany, Denmark, France, United Kingdom, Hongkong, Indonesia, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Singapore, Taiwan, USA, and Philippines.
“We have 1,800 participants listed in the 42K and 2,000 runners in the 21K. The two categories are already closed for registration,” the president of Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC), Kenneth Casquejo, told SunStar Cebu yesterday.
Runners and fitness buffs, though, can still register in the short-distance categories, the men’s and women’s 10K and 5K, until Sunday.
The organizers have yet to release the official route but they earlier announced that the course will be within Cebu City.
The South Road Properties (SRP) will not be used as part of the route after the Cebu City Government issued an executive order prohibiting the use of SRP for running events to avoid traffic congestion.
The Cebu Marathon is part of the activities of the annual Sinulog Festival, which falls every Sunday week of January.
The registration fee for the 10K is at P950 and the 5K at P750.
