BRIDAL WEAR THAT BLENDS EASE, FANTASY
Tucked away from streets lies a nook that dwells within the swirls of reality. But for a few moments, it laid host to a day of fantasy to a collection that speaks volumes— literally.
For the holidays, fashion designer Mikhail Achas presents a bridal collection with a play on volumes married with softness.
Projecting effortless luxury, the designs are set in a garden for a backdrop perfectly complementing the details of every design and fully capturing the softness with an ethereallike finish. “Even though I’m experimenting with proportion and volume, I wanted the direction of the shoot to still look relaxed. It has always been the direction of my brand to create a vision of effortless luxury,” said Mikhail.
“I wanted to have my pieces in a very contrasting background. I’m very particular with the volume of my pieces for this collection. I made sure the elements of the set won’t clash with the details of my pieces. My previous collections were all about following the contour of the body, softly resting to the ground. For this collection, I played with a lot of volume using different fabrics, in different proportions, using different construction techniques.”
Using various fabrics to create such looks, Mikhail envisions the wearer to feel blissfully free. “I am always drawn to lace. I get so excited to experiment on techniques that I can apply to the material. I also used jusi to achieve the volume that I wanted to achieve, at the same time the translucent quality of the jusi made the garment look light.”
With the lightness comes the freedom to move with ease along with the feeling of living out one’s fairy tale. “I want them to feel comfortable and look effortlessly beautiful. Even with all the volume that was added to the garments, I want them to move freely so that they can dance in it,” he shared. “I want the collection to be something that creates a feeling of fantasy but at the same time is very grounded and effortless.”
