- KAL

A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) refilling station was raided by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 for allegedly operating without a permit in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City last Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Insp. Edwin Lacostales, CIDG 7 spokesperson, said that the establishment has no permit from the Department of Energy.

Seized from the refilling station were P15 million worth of LPG tanks that were about to be delivered in different parts of Cebu and Bohol.

Lacostales said they were informed about the refilling station’s alleged illegal activity last November.

After they confirmed that the establishment has no permit, they applied for a search warrant from Talisay City Regional Trial Court Branch 66 Judge Jacinto Fajardo Jr.

Fajardo granted the search warrant. The business establishment’s owner, Marc Masangkay, was not caught.

Police said that Masangkay will be facing complaints for violating Batas Pambansa Bilang 33 as amended by Presidential Decree 1865 before the city prosecutor’s office.

Confiscated from the refilling station were 292 empty LPG tanks, two filled LPG tanks (22kg); a bullet tank (8 tons); three vans; mini dump truck; tank lorry; two LPG dispensers; two LPG pumps; and a log book of sales. /
