Carry only parcels, Angkas app told

- JKV

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 warned drivers of ride sharing app Angkas that while they are allowed to operate, they are not allowed to accommodate passengers.

While they were allowed to operate again last Tuesday, Angkas bikers can only deliver packages, said LTFRB 7 Director Ahmed Cuizon.

In their Facebook page, Angkas introduced their Padala feature, a roadside delivery service.

The service is only available in Metro Manila and Cebu.

The service, which is available daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., offers a base fare of P50 in Metro Manila and P20 in Cebu.

Those who want to avail themselves of the service must ensure that all packages must be unsealed and inspected by the driver before delivery.

Prohibited items for de- livery include cash, jewelry, weapons, hazardous materials, animals, pornography, or any illegal goods.

Packages for delivery can weigh up to 10 kgs. All items are insured up to P3,000.

Cuizon told SunStar Cebu yesterday that they are monitoring Angkas drivers following the resumption of their operations last Tuesday.

Cuizon reminded Angkas drivers that if they are caught, they could be sanctioned.

SunStar Cebu was able to in- terview an Angkas driver to determine if they have been getting passengers or not.

The Angkas driver, who refused to identify himself, said they were not allowed to take passengers yet.

In a separate interview, Arnel Tancinco, executive assistant of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, said that the mayor wants to utilize the Angkas app for the city.

Tancinco said that for now, they are still awaiting for Angkas’ proposal for the city. /
