Two drug surrenderers were caught by the operatives led by the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) in a drug bust in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara yesterday morning.

Suspects Rodrigo Oyangurin Sepe Jr., 28, and Rock Jade Gabales Lamosao yielded six grams of white crystals believed to be shabu.

In a separate operation on the same day, an alleged former close-in bodyguard of dismissed Dumanjug Mayor Efren Guntrano Gica eluded arrest in Barangay Poblacion, Dumanjug, Cebu.

Senior Insp. Nazarino Emia, the PIB team leader, identified the suspect as ex-PO2 Sabiano Tolentino Saromines Jr.

The drug bust was successful, but the suspect was able to run into the mangroves after he noticed he was dealing with the police. Saromines carried with him two marked bills of P100 and a sachet of “shabu.”

Saromines allegedly went ab- sent without filing official leave, after he received information that he was assigned to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao for his alleged illegal activities.

In Alcantara, the contraband seized by the operatives of the Cebu Provincial Police Office-Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) was worth P69,000, a Dangerous Drugs Board value.

Emia said Sepe is a fisherman, while Lamosao is a businessman.

The suspects, he said, surrendered to the police and promised to stop selling shabu, but surveillance showed they are still engaged in illegal drug trade.

Lamosao sourced his supplies of shabu from Sepe, whose supplier is from B. Rodriguez St., Cebu City.

Suspects will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Selling shabu is a non-bailable offense. /
