BOWLING Tabora to grace Sinulog Bowling

The new Bowling World Cup (BWC) champion Krizziah Lyn Tabora will spice up the competitio­n in the 19th Bowlingple­x Tenpin Associatio­n ( BTA-Cebu) Sinulog Open National Tournament, which is slated on Jan. 22 to 28 at the Gaisano Bowlingple­x in Banilad, Cebu City.

BTA-Cebu president Bel Suelto Jr. relayed to SunStar Cebu that Tabora will be playing together with the legendary bowler Bong Coo.

“Krizzia Tabora and Bong Coo will be joining. We are also waiting for the confirmati­on of Paeng Nepomuceno,” said Suelto, who added that they’re expecting around 100 bowlers for the annual tournament.

Tabora was named the women’s division champion in the 53rd QubicaAMF BWC in Hermosillo, Mexico last Nov. 11 and posted the country’s best finish at the World Cup after 14 years.

Philippine legend Nepomuceno holds the record of a Filipino with the most titles in the BWC in 1976, 1980, 1992 and 1996.

Suelto said that they’re also expecting the PHL team players in the week-long tournament.

“Last year we had a record number of 142 participan­ts. As of now, we have confirmed 90 players. We we’re looking to get more or less 100 bowlers,” he said.

Cebuano kegler Aui Padawan will be defending his title in the Masters division.
