Happy New Year! If 2018 is the year you want to get out of your beauty rut, by all means, start getting more creative with your beauty looks. Here are some of my favorite YouTubers to watch and take inspiration from.
Pony Makeup
Possibly Korea’s most famous beauty vlogger, Pony is constantly changing up her hair and beauty looks. Most of her looks require quite a bit of prep time, but one can learn a lot from her for all the steps she takes for base, contour, eyebrows, eyes, cheeks and lips. Despite the many products she uses per tutorial, her makeup always looks balanced, never too severe. She comes up with different looks for every video and does tutorials in detail so that they’re pretty easy to replicate yourself.
Chloe Morello
I started watching Sydneysider Chloe well before she hit her well-deserved million-subscriber mark. Whether she does simpler looks or more sultry ones, she makes you feel like she’s a girl friend who has intermediate to advanced skills in makeup. She’s funny and sassy, and does other videos like fashion and travel vlogs if you like seeing more of her outside of beauty tutorials. She’s done several videos as well for Muslim women, which few international YouTubers do. As she said in one such video, “We’re all just girls who love makeup.”
Sona Gasparian
Sona does a wide variety of beauty videos—drugstore, high end, celebrity-inspired, seasonal, product reviews, just about everything. She religiously churns out new videos every week or several times a week, so we can always see fresh content from her. Most of her videos are five to 10 minutes long, so if you just need some quick inspo before doing your own face, check out her channel.
Sinead Cady
I don’t hear much about Sinead, who’s Irish, but I enjoy watching her videos because they’re quick—many five minutes or shorter—but still present a variety of looks. Many of her tutorials are very helpful for beginners; her most popular videos are those targeted to beginners because she explains techniques really well.
