COFFEE OR BEER? SPECIAL BREWS HERE

- MONICA R. LOPEZ / Writer and photographer

“Coffee It’s one or or tea?” the other. Of course they’re not exclusively linked as each can go well with others and, to everyone’s delight, may even click. Such is the pairing of coffee and beer. These are pretty much everywhere. But how often do you find them both being the main attraction?

Offering the best of both worlds is Drip and Draft, which opened last September and is found on lifestyle strip Streetscape in Paseo Saturnino, Ma. Luisa Road, Banilad, Cebu City. It’s home to specialty coffee and craft beer on tap. By combining the two, it gives its patrons choices for those who wish to hang back with a cold one, or start and end the day with coffee—all in one place.

More than the convenience of having both drinks in one place, there’s the well thought of selections for both the drip and draft side. For the drip side, it offers specialty coffee. Providing a healthier and flavorful kind of coffee, one can expect nothing but the fresh as it has its own roastery. It carries beans from different farms around the world like Nicaragua, Panama and Rwanda to name a few, and promises to constantly bring new variants every other month. Apart from its selections, try some of its signature drinks like the cold brew coffee (its only bottled product), brewed 24 hours brimming with sweet flavors. There’s also the nitro cold brew on tap infused with nitrogen, producing a velvety, creamy cup.

Behind the coffee counter is its tap system. Straight from the keg, Drip and Draft carries beers from companies like Turning Wheels, The Cebruery, Cebu Brewing Company as well as Engkanto from Manila. Another selection is one made in-house called The Inconsistent— basically what the title means that one can’t expect what will be brewed but it’s worth checking out.

Have something light on the side like its paninis, chorizo with egg pan de sal, chicken pie; and sweet choices from cakes, tarts, cheescake and donuts and more. With its interiors furnished with industrial trimmings, the place overall provides a chill, work savvy setting that provides the perfect combination of businesslike sophistication and laid-back ambience.

Drip and Draft is open from 7 a.m. until midnight daily but closes at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
