Officials discuss traffic in Mingla

-

Talisay City Security Consultant Cecil Ezra Sandalo said they have discussed the issue before and they decided to meet again yesterday to be able to come up with a plan on how to address the situation.

The mayor of Minglanilla town and representatives of Talisay City met with Gov. Hilario Davide III to discuss the traffic congestion affecting the two local government units (LGUs).

Talisay City Security Consultant Cecil Ezra Sandalo said they have discussed the issue before and decided to meet again yesterday to come up with a plan on how to address the situation.

Sandalo admitted there were lapses in how the traffic problem was addressed.

“There is always a problem. That is why we are here to solve the problem. Now say, for example, the volume of traffic in the SRP. There is an excavation somewhere in Mambaling. Now all the big buses, all are now passing through SRP. We’re not complaining but this is just citing effects,” Sandalo said.

Davide said they need to add more people to handle the traffic on major roads.

“We discussed long-term and short-term solutions. What’s really important is the close coordination between the LGUs,” Davide said.

Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña said they have coordinated with the Talisay City Government to solve the traffic problem.

Peña said that they have plans to make a bypass in the old railway in Pooc, Talisay that will end in Naga as a long term solution to address the traffic congestion.

He said they will also sign a memorandum of agreement to deal with those who park along the national highway by hiring towing services, as recommended by the Land Transportation Office.
