Suspended Labogon brgy. chief leaves post

-

After the 60-day preventive suspension order was served on him last Dec. 28, Labogon Barangay Captain Renato Suson of Mandaue City finally turned over his duties to first Councilor Amado Manatad at the Labogon Barangay Hall yesterday morning.

The turnover was peaceful and was attended by City Legal Assistant Lawyer James Allan Sayson, a representative from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and some police officers.

Suson, Barangay Councilors Alfredo Estrada and Benwilson Bodo Jr. were suspended after their fellow barangay officials, including Manatad, filed a complaint for violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, before the Sangguniang Panlungsod last July 10, 2017.

The complaint filed was related to the alleged ghost delivery of construction materials intended for the rehabilitation of the barangay’s material recovery facility.

Sayson, the DILG and the police officers went to Labogon Barangay Hall after they learned that Suson was still reporting to the barangay hall despite the suspension order.

Earlier, Suson said that he continued going to the barangay hall to help in the garbage collection and in keeping peace and order in the village, but he was not signing any document.

Suson turned over the check book, official receipts, keys of the barangay vehicles and of the office of the barangay captain to Manatad.

“I accept the suspension order with all humility,” Suson said in an interview.

He said he will spend his suspension doing things that will help the barangay./
