A team of foreign doctors called No Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) Internatio­nal Inc. will be in the country from Feb. 12-20 to conduct the modern no-needle, no-scalpel vasectomy mission at the Mary Johnston Hospital in Manila and on Feb. 12 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Cebu City. NSV is an option for men who need a permanent family planning method.

The No Scalpel Vasectomy Internatio­nal Inc.(NSVI), with a team of foreign doctors, will be in the Philippine­s on Feb. 12-20, 2018 to conduct the modern no needle, no scalpel vasectomy missions.

It will be held at the Mary Johnston Hospital in Manila on Feb. 12 and at Sacred Heart Hos- pital in Cebu City and in other venues in Cebu on Feb. 13 to 20.

The team of doctors is headed by Dr. Douglas Stein. Dr. Ramon Suarez, NSVI president, will also be part of the team.

NSV is an option for men who needs a permanent method in family planning.

This is an opportunit­y since there are only a few doctors in the country who can perform this modern, 15-minute band-aid only no needle/no scalpel vasectomy, which the NSVI pioneered in the Philippine­s.

This is free to interested Filipinos(for foreign nationals, the profession­al fee will range from P10,000 to P20,000.

Executive Order 12 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last Jan. 9, 2017 ordered government agencies and local government units to intensify the modern family planning to attain the “zero unmet need for fam- ily planning” and for this to be more accessible to poor Filipinos to reduce poverty.

The group has been providing free modern vasectomy since 2001, and will also shoulder the expenses of the medicines, anesthetic­s, medical supplies, including the “income replacemen­t” assistance to those NSV patient with low income(for the two to three days no heavy work/lifting.

Prior to the holding of the procedure to the beneficiar­ies, an NSV orientatio­n/education/ counseling, and Q&A (question and answer) session, as needed, to inform the potential clients of the facts about the NSV.
