22 Tango Records, in partnership with Create Cebu, is kicking off the new year with a culmination of the recently concluded Grow Cebu Music School Tour with Grow Cebu Music Congress, an afternoon of panel discussions and conversations among music community influencers in anticipation of the second Grow Cebu Music Summit this June.

Happening this Jan. 13, Saturday at A_SPACE Cebu in Crossroads Mall, Banilad as part of this year’s Crisscrossings: Creative Convergence 2018, Grow Cebu Music Congress aims to spark awareness and enthusiasm for the music community, showcase the vision and present ventures of the different organizations, and elevate interaction between artist and listener.

The panel is a careful selection of organizations that represent the varied fields of music in Cebu. Aside from 22 Tango Records, it includes Sistemang Pilipino, Kadasig and Bomba Press.

Panelists will take turns interacting with a moderator to discuss their respective organization’s efforts. It’s an opportunity for them to share its purpose, past and current projects, as well as future plans to a wider audience including guests from local government units, the private sector and the creative community. It also hopes to serve as a springboard for the invited panelists to stay connected to each other to make the community grow and thrive.

Grow Cebu Music Congress will then culminate with an Artist Showcase at 8 p.m. right outside at the Crossroads grounds, featuring the best that homegrown music has to offer: Thinking Chair, Fonzy, Sepia Times, Carlisle, Honeydrop, Mother Folker, Wonggoys and Coolie Dread and the Microphone Commanders (CDMC).

Anyone who is interested to learn about the music community and experience homegrown music can join and take part for free.
