BASILICA ROADS TO BE CLOSED
Closure will start at 10 p.m. today as part of preparations for Walk With Jesus at dawn Parts of Osmeña Blvd., D. Jakosalem, Magallanes, and Legaspi among those affected

Starting tonight, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) will close several roads near the Basilica del Sto. Niño to pave the way for activities of the Fiesta Señor 2018.
CCTO Operations Chief Francisco Ouano said the closure will start at 10 p.m. and will take effect until Jan. 21.
Although the Walk with Jesus from Fuente Osmeña to the basilica, the kickoff activity of the Fiesta Senior 2018, is scheduled tomorrow, Ouano said they decided to close the roads early to allow motorists to plan their trips ahead.
“We decided to close the roads early, so that by Jan. 11, on Thursday, the motorists will be fully aware,” he said.
Affected roads include Os- meña Blvd., from Lapulapu St. up to the corner of F. Gonzales St., or the one in front of the basilica; D. Jakosalem St., from Legaspi St. up to the corner of Magallanes St.; and P. Burgos St., from Legaspi St. up to the corner of Magallanes St.
CCTO will also close Lapulapu St., from M.C. Briones St. up to the corner of Osmeña Blvd.; Zamora St.; the whole stretch of Legaspi St.; Magallanes St., from M.J. Cuenco Ave. up to the corner of P. Burgos St.
“Motorist, drivers and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs installed on the rerouted areas to minimize traffic congestion,” the traffic advisory reads.
Public utility jeepneys (PUJ) from Barangays Guadalupe, including Banawa, Capitol Site and Lahug, upon reaching M.C. Briones St., will have to access M. J. Cuenco Ave., turn left to Osmeña Blvd., turn right to Lapulapu St., turn left to Legaspi St., turn left to Plaridel Extn., turn right to Osmeña Blvd. and back to their points of origin.
PUJs with Routes 10D, 09H and 12M will be rerouted to V. Gullas St., proceed to Manalili St., turn right to Magallanes St., to Borromeo St., to their usual routes, then to their points of origin.
PUJs with Route 09C, 10E, 11D and 12M that traverse P. Burgos St., will have to turn right to Legaspi St., turn left to Plaridel Extn., proceed to Plaridel St., turn right to Magallanes St., to their usual routes, then to their points of origin.
