Restaurants and hotels within 300 meters of the Sinulog Grand Parade route will not be exempted from the liquor ban that will be enforced by the Cebu City Government on Sunday.

Mayor Tomas Osmeña said that even when they are inside the hotels or restaurants that are within 300 meters of the parade route, liquor will still not be allowed. Room service is covered.

The policy will apply to both locals and foreigners.

“Restaurants are not exempted, hotels are not exempted, for- eigners are not exempted, room service is not exempted given that they are within a 300-meter radius,” the mayor told reporters.

Osmeña signed an executive order (EO) that prohibits the selling and drinking of liquor within 300 meters of the Sinulog parade route.

Shows, concerts, performances, gigs, recitals, events, street parties as well as loud speakers will not be allowed within the 300-meter radius of the Sinulog parade route as stated under the EO.

The liquor ban will take effect from 6 a.m. of Jan. 21 to 6 a.m. of Jan. 22.

Although the City doesn’t have enough personnel to apprehend violators, Osmeña warned that business establishments that will violate the liquor ban will face closure.

“Take your chances, but if you’ll get caught, you’ll be closed. Sanctions will be closure for one month or three months or forever. It will depend on the severity of the violation. If it is clear abuse and defiance, it will be closed forever,” he said.
