-

A total of over P1 million in cash and other prizes will be shelled out in the SM2SM Run Year 8, which is set on Feb. 18 at the SM City Cebu in North Reclamation Area, Cebu City.

Rj Leduna, SM senior public relations manager, said that a total of over P1 million was allocated for the winners’ cash prizes and raffle prizes.

Some of the items that will be raffled away are eight Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phones and a LED TV, among others. Cash prizes will be given to the top runners in all the categories.

The race is expected to draw a total of about 7,000 runners in the 21-kilometer, 12K, 8K and 4K categories. All the categories will have the men’s and women’s divisions.

For this year, the organizers will award the runners based on the age group divisions.

The Top 3 in the 21K (39-below) will win P50,000, P30,000 and P20,000, while the fourth to 10th placers will each get P3,000. The Top 3 in the 40-49 class, 50-above and foreign division will also receive cash prizes.

The 12K (39-below) champion, meanwhile, will win P20,000, while the next two placers get P10,000 and P8,000, respectively. There will be cash prizes also for the 40-49, 50-above and foreign division.

On the other hand, there will be no age-group division in the shorter distances. The champion in the 8K will win P10,000 and the champion in the 4K will get P5,000.

Leduna said that for the 12K and 21K categories, the runners must bring a government-issued ID for verification of their age bracket.

Registration fee is at P550 for 4K, P650 for 8K, P750 for 12K, and P950 for 21K. /
