Leylam FC dominates Sinulog Football Fest

Leylam FC continued to show top form since returning from a brief hiatus in football, taking home the Men’s Open crown in the 8th Sinulog Football Festival yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Leylam FC A went unbeaten the whole tournament and beat Rising Sun, 1-0, in the Men’s Open finals.

Dan Villarico, who’s back with the team after a short stint with the Stallion Laguna FC in the Philippine­s Football League (PFL), scored the lone goal in the championsh­ip match. Leylam FC A topped Group B with 12 points - beating the likes of USC Light, FC Inter Cebu, Cebu Avengers FC and City of Naga FC in the group.

Leylam FC A defeated rival Erco FC, 1-0, in the semifinals.

Rising Sun, on the other hand, topped Group C with nine points from a three wins and a loss, beating Suzuki FC B for the semifinal spot on goal difference.

Rising Sun edged out Leylam FC B, 2-1, in the semifinals.

Players from the two squads that Leylam FC fielded are from its Men’s Open team that will defend its crown in the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup.

Meanwhile, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) tallied its third title in the tournament after DBTC A bagged the Boys Under-13 diadem with a 2-0 win over Pomeroy the other day.

Paref-Springdale won against DBTC A, 1-0, to claim the Under-11 title.

Tayud United FC bagged the Girls Under-15 crown with a 1-0 win over LNHS-King Forest FC. Don Bosco Boys Home beat Guardian Striker, 1-0, for the Boys Under-15 title. Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) edged out LNHS-King Forest FC, 4-3, for the Girls Under-18 title.
