SPOTLIGHT. Caparas plans next film in Cebu

- SAM COSTANILLA samcost@yahoo.com

PLAN. Everything is still in the planning stage but I have it direct from the horse’s mouth: noted film director and scriptwriter Carlo J. Caparas will be doing his next production here in Cebu. He told me that there will be negotiations first with a very prominent clan here for the filming of a very sensational case that occurred a few years back. Sorry but I am not at liberty to reveal anything because Caparas or his duly authorized representative will still meet with the affected clan.

SENSATIONAL. Yes, the planned movie is all about a very sensational tragedy here and Caparas wants the flick to be based on real events surrounding the case. Don’t worry, folks, because I will be the first to reveal everything as soon as I will have the go signal.

BEAUTY. I congratulate the very lovely friend of mine named Nica Nabua of Medellin for being the very first Cebuana to win this year’s Miss Isabel, Leyte crown. The pageant was open even to non-Leyteñas. According to her, she plans to continue her college studies and intends to join a national beauty pageant two years from now. Best of luck to you, Nica!

LAUDABLE. It’s indeed so laudable on the part of the MSY Foundation, led by Dame Mariquita Yeung, to sustain its Operation Smile as a major yearly community outreach activity. The main aim is to repair, through free surgery, the cleft lip and palate of those that cannot afford the operation and medicine. On Saturday, Feb. 10, whole day at the Visayas Community Medical Center, those that have this facial defect will be examined and interviewed. If they have no ailment, their surgery will be on Monday, Feb. 12. For more info, call or text this columnist. (For reactions, call/text 0932277-8771.)
