ILLEGAL DRUGS Bus, mini-bus operators back CSBT’s campaign for drug-free drivers

-

The Cebu Provincial Bus and Minibus Operators Cooperative (CPBMOC) assured the management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) that they will require all their personnel to undergo a drug test before they would be allowed to work.

Julieto Flores, CPBMOC president, said that any bus and minibus personnel who refuse to undergo a mandatory drug test on or before Feb. 28 will not be allowed to report back to work on March 1.

Bus helpers, dispatchers and ticket issuers/collectors will also be required to undergo the mandatory drug test.

Flores said that he and his fellow operators agreed to submit their drug test results to CSBT as it will also ensure that the personnel assigned to transport the passengers are drug-free.

As an operator, Flores said he started requiring his personnel to undergo a drug test.

Before, he said that some drivers and other bus personnel would use illegal drugs to stay awake.

With the Duterte administration’s war against illegal drugs, Flores said he imposed the mandatory drug test for his personnel.

Any personnel who refuses to undergo the drug test will be dismissed, he said.

Early this week, CSBT security chief Jonathan Tumulak asked bus and mini-bus operators to require their personnel to undergo a drug test and submit their results to the terminal management.

Aside from a drug test, bus personnel are also required to secure a police clearance. /
