COPS NAB 23, SEIZE NEARLY P3M WORTH OF SHABU IN 2 DAYS
Authorities score big in raids in Danao, San Fernando, Camotes, San Francisco and Consolacion, nab 23 including suspected drug lord who eluded arrest in 2015
Twenty-three suspected drug personalities, including an alleged drug lord, were caught by authorities in operations in San Francisco, Camotes, as well as Danao City, Consolacion and San Fernando in the past two days.
Last Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 operatives arrested nine personalities and seized 600 grams of white crystals believed to be shabu with an estimated market value of P2.9 million.
More than P200,000 worth shabu were seized by the anti-narcotics team led by Supt. Jaime Quiocho Jr. in five villages in Danao City.
In PDEA’s operation, at 3 p.m., suspected big-time drug personality Alfiel Chu was caught in a beach resort in Barangay Union, San Francisco, Camotes.
PDEA 7 information officer Leia Albiar said the suspect had been hiding for more than two years. On July 10, 2015, Chu eluded arrest during a drug bust in Cebu City.
Chu, 28, was the subject of the operation based on a court-issued warrant of arrest. He did not divulge his supplier, and said his main source of income is raising fighting cocks in his farm.
The suspect denied he is into drug trafficking and he told SuperBalita Cebu that his father was the one engaged in the illegal activity. His father is now in jail.
The other persons caught were Chu’s cousin James Chu, 31; warehouse worker Mark Vincent Jorquia, 35; and Ruben Roy Dabatos, 21.They yielded 530 grams with an estimated market value of P2.6 million.
Two hours later, alleged drug den maintainer Anabelle Solis, 50, and five others were arrested in Barangay Suba, Cebu City.
Solis, also known as Maribel Abellana, also owned a sari-sari store as a front to her illegal activity. Her alleged customers Jayson Melleza, 35; Joelmar Talledo, 32; Romeo Cahetas, 45; Michael Cañoneo, 27; and Melissa Orbes, 39, were also caught during the operation, which was authorized by a search warrant.
Seized from them were 70 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P350,000, drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to P753 believed to be proceeds of illegal drug transactions.
In Danao City, 11 drug personalities were arrested the villages of Taboc, Guinsay, Taytay, Suba, and Sabang in a series of operations that started at 7:06 p.m. on Feb. 8, and ended past 5 a.m. on Feb. 9. Quiocho, the city police chief, said they seized more than P213,000 worth of shabu.
In Barangay Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion, the team led by Chief Insp. Gerard Ace Pelare caught Walden Agbay Veranda, who yielded four small packs of “shabu” at 8 p.m. last Thursday.
Two hours earlier, Senior Insp. Adrian Nalua led his personnel in arresting a wanted drug personality, Rogelio Zamora De Quilla, in Barangay Pitalo, San Fernando and they seized an unlicensed .45 pistol from the suspect.
