Rival clubs Leylam FC and ERCO FC walked away with separate wins in the Men’s Open Division of the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) yesterday.

Defending champion Leylam FC had a bizarre ending to its first match this season. The back-toback Men’s Open titleholder was awarded a 3-0 default victory after Samba FC refused to continue.

Dan Villarico scored the match’s lone goal in the first minute.

The referees and officials, however, were able to pacify both sides.

Intong slapped both Godfrey and Lukman with a red card, trimming down Samba FC’s players to just nine.

The Samba FC players walked out of the pitch and refused to play and even threatening the referee.

ERCO FC, in the meantime, beat Don Bosco United FC, 2-0.

Thomas Ramos hit the back of the net in the 10th minute, while Jay-R Castillon scored the second goal in the 61st.

University of the Visayas (UV) and University of Southern Philip- pines Foundation (USPF) settled to a scoreless draw.

On the other hand, at the Paref-Springdale pitch, Titans didn’t break a single sweat with a 3-0 default win after a no-show by San Miguel in the Inter Company division.

Optum outclassed E-Performax, 5-1, in the Inter BPO Mens division.

Convergys won against Optum, 1-0, while E-Performax edges out Mez United, 2-1, in the Inter BPO Ladies category.
