Rosauro makes ONE FC debut

-

Roel Rosauro’s dream of fighting on the big stage has finally come true as he makes his debut in the ONE Championship.

The 29-year-old Rosauro of Yaw-Yan Ardgima steps in as a replacement for fellow Filipino Rodian Menchavez and faces young Chinese prospect Kai Wen Li in ONE Championship - “Quest for Gold” on Feb. 23 at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

“I was shocked but I’m very happy because this is what I have been dreaming of, to reach this level,” Rosauro told SunStar Cebu.

Rosauro is a veteran striker who has honed his skills under the tutelage of Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga. He has been improving his ground game and recently won a silver medal in Dumau.

“I’m putting pressure on my training because this came all of a sudden. He’s a striker and a brawler, and I think he’s also a champion in BJJ. But in this fight, I believe that he will be striking,” said Rosauro.

Rosauro is coming off a split decision victory over Alexander Aballe in the Universal Reality Combat Championship ( URCC) Bets at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lapu-Lapu City.

The 22-year-old Li has lost two of his last four fights in the past two years at the ONE Championship cage. After unanimous decision win over Sen Yang, Li got knocked out in the opening round by Martin Nguyen, now the ONE lightweight and featherweight champion. He bounced back in 2017 with a unanimous decision over Keanu Subba.
