■ CV POLICE CHIEF PROMISES TO FIX TALISAY’S PERSONNEL SHORTAGE

- KAL

Police Regional Office 7 Director Robert Quenery urged the Regional Human Resource and Doctrine Development Division to look for ways to solve the shortage of personnel of the Talisay City Police. Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has asked for more officers for Talisay, which now has 70 policemen. Last month, 12 non-commissioned police officers were relieved for their absence without official leave. Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Edgar Alan Okubo found that these officers were not on duty during a surprise visit last Dec. 30. Last October, five non-commissioned officers were transferred to other assignments after accusations of involvement in illegal activities. Quenery said the Talisay Police Station has a 1:3,400 police-to-population ratio. As of Aug. 1, 2015, the Philippine Statistics Authority recorded 227,645 inhabitants in the city. /
