GWEN’S TALK ABOUT RUNNING FOR GUV
Did Rep. Gwen Garcia categorically say she’d run for governor in 2019? The news report about her statement on dyHP radio said she’s “eyeing” and “considering” the option to return to the Capitol.
A Philstar online story quoted Gwen: “I am seriously considering actually, kay daw desperate ni,” referring to the Ombudsman decision ordering her dismissal from the House and perpetually barring her from public office over the contract for back-fill materials used on Capitol’s Balili property.
To Capitol watchers who heard the talk about Gwen publicity materials being circulated in many parts of the province, her radio statement tends to confirm this: she’s preparing for another run for the governorship.
Not only is Gwen the strongest contender in the anti-Junjun Davide camp, she might want to avenge the ordeal she suffered when she was suspended for six months as governor on Dec. 17, 2012, which led to the Garcias’ loss of the Capitol.
For now, she’s just “seriously considering.” No smart politician will say “definitely” when the elections are still one year and two months away.
