4 face criminal charges for stabbing neighbor, hurting bro

-

Four people are facing criminal charges for stabbing to death their neighbor and injuring his brother last Feb. 4, 2018.

Prosecutor Sarah Vanessa Lacno found evidence to charge the four respondents with murder and frustrated murder before the Regional Trial Court.

Police identified the victims as brothers Renato and Renan Agdol. Named respondents are Garry de Asis, Giovanni Bustamante, Earl Vincent Estomago, and Michael Arombo.

“There is a notorious inequality of forces between the victim and the aggressors, which facil- itated the death of the victim,” read Lacno’s resolution.

The case stemmed from the complaints filed by Renan Agdol, who accused the respondents of murder and frustrated murder before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Renan said he and his late brother, Renato, were walking toward the car repair shop where his slain brother was working last Feb. 4, 2018.

One of the respondents later called Renato, while Renan walked directly inside the car shop.

When he was about to open the shop, Renan said he heard a commotion outside.

When he checked on it, Renan said he saw the respondents beating Renato. Renan rushed to help his brother, but instead the respondents also mauled him.

One of the respondents also tried to stab him, but Renan was able to parry the attacker.

When Renan saw his brother bathing in his own blood, he shouted for help, forcing his neighbors to come out and help him and his brother.

They rushed Renato to the hospital, but he did not make it alive. On the other hand, the respondents then fled.

Police rushed to the area and arrested de Asis, Bustamante and Estomago. Arombo, however, remains at large.

In indicting the respondents, Prosecutor Lacno ruled the attack was carried out with treachery and abuse of superior strength.

“Considering the participation of the four individuals in attacking and beating the victim, conspiracy is established,” the resolution read.

The prosecutor indicted the respondents for murder for Renato’s death; and frustrated murder against the respondents for the injuries sustained by Renan. /
