Profession­als join police force

The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday welcomed licensed profession­als, including medical doctors and lawyers, as new Police Commission­ed Officers.

PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa administer­ed the oath of office to the new commission­ed officers after the regular Monday flag raising ceremony at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Police Director Rene Aspera, director of the Directorat­e for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) said the new officers include 27 lawyers and five medical doctors who were appointed to the initial rank of Police Senior Inspector with a basic monthly salary of P56,582 and subsistenc­e allowance, clothing allowance, quarters allowance, hazard pay, cost of living allowance and additional compensati­on.

Also among the newly-inducted police officers were 13 dentists, two psychologi­sts, 24 forensic chemists, 85 nurses, 11 civil engineers, three electrical engineers, two architects, 22 informatio­n technology officers and 18 electronic­s and communicat­ion engineers who were appointed to the initial rank of Police Inspector with a basic monthly salary of P49,528 with other allowances and fringe benefits.

Aspera said the new commission­ed officers will be assigned to various regional offices, National Operationa­l Support Units at Camp Crame, and other technical services of the PNP.

He said the newly-appointed PNP officers will undergo the mandatory Officers’ Basic Course and Field Training Program first.
