Eruf undergoes 3-week training on advanced fire, medical, rescue ops

-

Trainers from the Velligheidsregio Kennermerland (Brandweer Kennemerland–VRK) of the Netherlands have arrived in Cebu City early this month for a three-week training to the parademics and volunteers of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation Phil. Inc. (Eruf ).

During the training Eruf paramedics and volunteers learn firefighting, hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, advance cardiac life support and pediatric advance life support skills.

The training is part of the package of support VRK is providing to Eruf, the other components of which are the donation of equipment and vehicles as well as its annual preventive and maintenance checkup of the donated equipment and vehicles.

Last June 2017, a group of eight paramedics went to Haarlemmermeer in the Netherlands for training in crash fire rescue, advance firefighting, vehicle extrication and hazardous materials.

This time, the Dutch trainers are here in Cebu to continue training more responders and to understand the local context to which Eruf operates.

The partnership of VRK and Eruf is one of the tangible outcomes of the sister relations of Cebu City and Haarlemmermeer, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.

The friendship society between Cebu and Haarlemmermeer known as the VHC is also actively involved in supporting this project as well as in the other activities of the foundation since the inception of the sister city relations.
