OMEGA, TRAP TEAM UP FOR GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT
Rider Omega Pro announces partnership with triathlon association for grassroots program in the Visayas
The Rider Omega Triathlon Team will have a busy season ahead as they partnered with the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap) to improve the team’s grassroots development program.
Aside from that, Rider Omega has officially introduced the 13 new members who will be vital cogs in their campaign this season.
Team owner Paul Jake Castillo said during the annual’s team launch at the Robinson’s Galleria yesterday that it’s going to be an exciting season with the addition of some of notable names and young junior triathletes.
“I think it’s safe to say that we’ve been the number one team in the past two years, in terms of race attended, races won, and podium finishes. This year, we want to get to the next level,” said the team manager’s Tonyson Lu- ther Lee.
Lee said that as partners with Trap, the governing body of triathlon in the country, the team will be there to help out with Trap’s projects and programs in Visayas.
“We will be partnering with different schools for the grassroots program. Will do training camps (in Visayas) to find potentials and those who are willing to learn the sport,” said Lee.
Tom Carassco, Trap’s secretary general, said that the partnership with Rider Omega is an open agreement with the vision to find potential athletes within Cebu and Visayas.
On the other hand, Rider Omega will join 13 races for this season, including the major events, namely, Ironman 70.3 Philippines Davao, Ironman 70.3 Cebu, Ironman Subic, Ironman Arizona, Ironman Austria, Dipolog Triathlon, La Norte Man Series and 8080 Triathlon Races.
“Including the minor triathlon race, it’s around 13 races. The team is currently preparing for Ironman Davao 70.3 on March 25. The team hopes to get good results there,” said Lee.
The new members are elite Jorry Ycong, national junior triathlete Karen Manayon, Dr. Maria Victoria Tan, Vic Montebon, Lee Stephen Fat, Katherine Jumapao, Kyle Ryan Ong, Michael Acas, Renzo Mar Pahaganas, Ivan Delica, Marielle Estreba, KC Español, and Jov Delica.
The new members will join Castillo, Lee, Frederick Castaneda, Dr. Lorna Quimco-Amor, Franz Baguio, Alton Vincent Amor, Banjo Norte, Alto Lorenzo Amor, Brian Borling, Christopher Capistrano, Cianyl Jamae Gonzales, Edwin Yu, Ishmael Cecilio, Johnny Ferniz, Joland Olmilla, June Briz Ocana, Stephanie Joyce Tan, Maria Hodges, Jose Antonio Yu, Steve Cortes, Welmar Saavedra, and Mendel Lopez.
