Alegria survives Ginatilan

-

The Alegria volleybelles withstood a furious Ginatilan rally to fashion a 25-14, 24-26, 25-23 win in the elimination round of the 1st Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament in the Alegria Municipal Gym yesterday.

It seemed like the home team Alegria was in full control after winning the first set by nine points. But Ginatilan refused to go down and took the closely-contested second set, 26-24, to force a deciding third set.

Alegria returned the favor in the third set and beat Ginatilan by two points, 25-23, to win its first game in the tournament for females under 18.

Tabogon, meanwhile, defeated Santa Fe in straight sets, 25- 18, 25-11, at the Bogo City Sports Complex to bounce back from its loss against Tuburan a week ago in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.

Santa Fe absorbed its first defeat following a win against Bogo City a week ago. Sante Fe and Tabogon now both sport an identical 1-1 win-lose record.

In the other games, Minglanilla slipped past Talisay City, 25-18, 15-25, 25-11, at the Argao Municipal Gym; while Danao City defeated Carmen, 25-21, 25-06, at the Carmen Municipal Gym.

In the other venues, Dalaguete will take on Samboan and Santander will duke it out with Oslob at the Oslob Municipal Gym; while Argao takes on Talisay City, and Minglanilla plays Carcar City at the Carcar City Gym.
