RDC 7 receives zero score from Osmeña

-

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is open to engage officials of Regional development Council (RDC) 7 in a public discourse over projects they’re backing for the region.

But, Osmeña, in his news conference yesterday, said the score card of the RDC 7 when it comes to projects is zero.

“Sure, let’s start with their score card, zero. There’s nothing for me to attack because there’s nothing for them to show,” he said.

In a Facebook post, RDC 7 Infrastructure Development committee head Glenn Anthony Soco said they are willing to “stand up and engage anyone in any public discourse, be it in principle or in the battlefield.”

Soco reiterated their reasons why they decided not to endorse the budget for the construction of three underpass projects in Cebu City.

But Osmeña believes the RDC should not block a project that is ready for implementation.

Opposition Councilors Raymond Garcia and Joel Garganera support the RDC 7.

Garcia said the projects being pushed for endorsement before RDC 7 should be reviewed considering that underpasses don’t really solve the problem of traffic congestion.

He said that to address traffic, projects should focus on the creation of new roads.

“I have full trust and confidence in the President’s appointees. They have no hidden agenda. What they want is what is good for the city of Cebu and for Cebu in general. They know what they are talking about. They have been planning for the past years. The RDC before was just really a rubber stamp of politicians,” Garcia said.

Garganera also believes that focusing on one local government unit won’t solve the traffic problem because every place is connected to each other.
