Carcar, Argao, Dumanjug, Moalboal off to quarters in 1st Gov’s Cup volley
Carcar City, Argao, Dumanjug, and Moalboal clinched quarterfinals berths in the 1st Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament.
Carcar City booked a ticket to the next round after topping the South Division Cluster 1 with a clean 3-0 win-loss slate, while Argao clinched the second spot with a 1-2 card.
Argao accumulated five points in the point system and booted out both Minglanilla and Talisay City, which had identical 1-2 cards. Talisay finished with four points, while Minglanilla had three.
Dumanjug will move on to the next round after sweeping all three games in the South Division Cluster 3, while Moalboal grabbed the second spot with a 2-1 slate.
Carcar City, Argao, Dumanjug, and Moalboal will now wait for the top two squads in the South Division Cluster 2 to complete the quarterfinals cast of the South Division.
To determine the last two teams in the South Division quarterfinals, Dalaguete (2-0) will face Santander (1-1), while Oslob (1-1) will take on Samboan (0-2) at the Dalaguete Municipal Gym this Sunday.
The teams in the quarterfinals will play a single-round robin with the top two teams advancing to the semis.
On the other hand, no team has clinched a quarterfinals berth in the North Division yet. Mandaue City (4-0) and Liloan (3-1) lead the North Division Cluster 1, Catmon (3-0) and Danao City (3-1) lead Cluster 2, while Medellin (3-0) and Sta. Fe (2-1) lead Cluster 3.
