PNP, AFAD seal partnership, hold gun licensing caravan
The Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines (AFAD) Inc. has sealed a partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP) for responsible gun ownership.
Joy Jose, AFAD vice president, encouraged civilians who want to own a gun to strictly follow the process.
“The Firearms and Explosive Office has record based on their routinary reporting on the increase in the collection of fees due to license to own and possess firearms and firearms registration. In the Philippines, we have a law about firearm ownership before you are given the license to own and possess a firearm. You need to undergo a lot of clearances,” said Jose.
With their partnership, AFAD and the police yesterday launched the 26th Defense and Sporting Arms Show with hundreds of gun enthusiasts as well as police and military availing themselves of the caravan for the firearms license and other services.
PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa was the special guest during yesterday’s launch.
“It’s a good sign when you talk about global economics and Philippine economics, everything is expanding. The AFAD fully supports and works with the PNP. We push for the caravan on the gun show because we want to make the firearms licensing closer to people,” she said.
Jose said that legitimate gun dealers serve as the liaison between the PNP and the customers in terms of securing a permit and license for the gun.
“Safety, security and defense is always the concern of everybody. When you talk about security, it’s not just about yourself but also your family,” she said. /
