POULTRY FARM ACCIDENT PROBED

PDRRMO announces the holding of a series of training and seminars on work-related hazards and how to prevent it for construction companies in the province

Pinamungajan Mayor Glenn Baricuatro ordered an investigation into an incident involving the construction of a poultry farm that killed three men last Wednesday afternoon.

Baricuatro said he tasked Municipal Engineer Adelina Soberano Fuentes to inspect the Bird Steel Poultry Farm in Sitio Candiis, Barangay Sibago.

The mayor wants to know if the owner of the farm, which is still under construction, can be held liable after the steel bar matting reportedly collapsed, killing contractor Feliciano Media, 56; and welders Denis Artis and Renerio Cabilin Jr.

Baricuatro said the town will extend burial assistance to Cabilin, a Sibago resident.

Fuentes is expected to submit a report to Baricuatro today.

The Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) also separately investigated the incident.

PDRRMO information officer Julius Regner told reporters that a composite team was sent to Pinamungajan to investigate.

“Among gitan-aw kung unsay tulubagon sa contractor ug sa poultry owner,” said Regner.

Meanwhile, Regner announced that the PDRRMO will hold a series of training and seminars intended for construction companies in the Province to educate them on work-related hazards and how to protect its workers.

Regner also advised these firms to implement measures in the construction sites to prevent accidents. /
