Capitol eyes additional training for traffic enforcers

The Cebu Provincial Government will continue to provide training to traffic managers and enforcers to improve their skills in managing traffic in their communities.

Jonathan Tumulak, Cebu Provincial focal person on traffic management, made the assurance following the end of a five-day traffic management seminar organized by the University of the Philippines Diliman National Center for Transportation Studies.

Around 54 traffic managers from the cities and towns in Metro Cebu graduated from the course, which started Monday last week and ended last Friday.

Tumulak said the Province will conduct an assessment to determine if those who graduated implemented their learnings in their respective traffic man- units.

“Tanawon gyud nato nga dili ra gyud kutob sa certificate ang ilang nakat-onan ug ila ba gyung gidisseminate sa ilang mga sakop pod,” Tumulak said.

He assured that the seminar will not be the last for the traffic enforcers and managers.

Tumulak announced that Capitol will organize another training on traffic law enforcement and road safety auditing.

It seeks to teach traffic managers how to implement traffic laws and traffic safety measures.

Tumulak also announced that there will be trainings on how to conduct a traffic impact assessment, which will determine the volume of vehicles in a specific area.

Having a traffic impact assessment study could help local government units (LGU) in managing their traffic situations, especially if the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement road projects in their area, Tumulak said.

“Diha nato mahibaw-an kung unsay matabang sa LGU kung magsugod na ang road project aron ma-lessen and impact sa traffic,” he said. /
