GBP PARTNERS WITH BFP IN EMPOWERING TOLEDO HOUSEHOLDS

“There is a need to educate every member of the household,” said Senior Fire Officer 3 Julius Dagatan of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Toledo during a forum held recently.

The activity was part of the informatio­n education and communicat­ion campaign (IEC) of the Global Business Power Corp. (GBP).

Participat­ed in by various residents of Barangays Daanlungso­d and Luray 2, Dagatan together with Senior Officer 1 Ruthie Omayan reiterated the importance of fire prevention awareness.

They also pointed out the need to keep a contact details of all concerned agencies not limiting to the Bureau of Fire.

Omayan said that based on the data they have gathered at least 73 percent of fire incidents were caused by defective electrical connection­s.

For the past years, GBP through its Toledo subsidiari­es, Cebu Energy Developmen­t Corp., (CEDC) and Toledo Power Company (TPC), has been collaborat­ing with BFP in the fire prevention campaign.

“There is also a need to teach our children not to play with flammable items,” said Omayan.

The GBP’s IEC is a community program done every quarter to give updates on its operations, provide awareness on the relevant issues concerning its surroundin­g communitie­s and as a means of keeping an open communicat­ion.

“GBP is committed to be a reliable partner to the communitie­s around its plants. We are dedicated to help them grow as the company grows,” said Engr. Leah Diaz, GBP’s first vice president-Cebu Operations.
