The Rider Omega Triathlon Team asserted their dominance anew in the LaNorte Man 2018 Series Leg 1 after winning the Team Challenge title at the MCC Complex Tubod, Lanao del Norte yesterday.

The Cebu-based commercial team Omega Triathlon showed its force after eight of its members made it to the podium in the sprint and standard distance races.

Talisay City’s pride Karen Andrea Manayon clocked 1 hour and 08 minutes in the 750-meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run race to win the women’s sprint overall title.

Justice Sousa placed second in the men’s overall sprint race after clocking 2:06.

Jorry Ycong, who’s fresh from bagging the Asian Elite title in the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao, finished the 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run in 1:59 to place second overall in the men’s standard distance race.

Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez also placed second in the women’s overall standard race.

Banjo Norte was named the champion in the men’s 25-29 age group, June Briz Ocana won the women’s 40-44, Edukol Yu topped the men’s 40-44 and Brian Borling placed second in the 30-34.

The Omega Tri is the reining Team Challenge champion in the event after dominating the threeleg series last year. They started the season again on a high-note after the first leg victory.

The team’s general manager Tonyson Luther Lee said that they’re not going to rest on their laurels after this victory as they prepare for the Subic Bay International Triathlon (Subit) on April 21 to 22.

He said that the team will be sending 15 triathletes for the sprint and standard distance race. /
