262 FARMERS GET AGRI LANDS THEY TILL
The land distributed by the Department of Agrarian Reform covers almost 400 hectares in 15 villages of Mabinay town. DAR official hopes that the farmers will use their ownership of the land to further improve their lives.
Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 262 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
The distributed property involved 35 private agricultural lands with a total area of 388.78 hectares covered under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in 15 villages in Mabinay.
These are Barangays Abis, Bugnay, Banban, Pantao, Campanun-an, Himocdongon, Manlingay, Pantao, Mayapusi, Luyang, Hagtu, Old Namangka, Lumbangan, Tara and Inapoy.
DAR Undersecretary for Field Operations Karlo Bello led the land title distribution together with DAR 7 Director Alejandro Otacan, Assistant Regional Directors Engr. Eliasem Castillo and Atty. Josephus Baterna, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Atty. Louie Naranjo and Mabinay Mayor Ernie “Jango” Uy.
Now that they have titles to their land, Otacan told the farmers that they now have the chance to further improve their lives like every other Filipino.
Assistant Regional Director Josephus Baterna told the farmers that the CLOA is a proof of their ownership of the land. He then asked them to know their rights and obligations, saying it will give life to the land titles.
Bello, for his part, said that DAR is working hard to give land ownership to farmers who worked with them for years.
