Casa Gorordo Museum to hold talk on World War II
The Casa Gorordo Museum (CGM) will hold a forum that will delve into the experiences of people who lived through World War II in Cebu.
The CGM Talk entitled “Surviving the War” will be held on from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
An overview of the war in Cebu Province will be given by Dr. Jose Eleazar Bersales, a noted expert on local history. Survivors of the war will then share their experiences.
This CGM Talk commemorates the occupation of the provThe ince by Japanese forces in April 1942 or 76 years ago.
Florencio Moreño II, curator of Casa Gorordo Museum, said that the talk aims to provide a venue for World War II veterans and survivors to share their stories with the younger generation.
“Each year, the number of war veterans and survivors grows smaller in number. By letting them tell their stories once more, we are recognizing the sacrifices that they gave to protect our liberty and we are thanking them for their contributions to Philippine nation-building,” he said.
CGM Talk is a series of lectures and forums initiated by the museum to enrich the public’s understanding of local history and culture, and promote confidence and love for Cebuano heritage.
