Knowing your superheroes

-

We all have that one superhero that we idolize, one we aspire to become either for their physique, their superhuman abilities or the morals they stand for. Whether it’s their comic version or as portrayed by A-list celebrities, these superheroes inspire us and relate to us in many ways. As Marvel superheroes take over the big screen once more, our readers share who among the characters they relate to the most.

We’ll email you the topic and be sure to reply. It’s Captain America for me. He sticks to what he believes in and does whatever he can to achieve the greater good. He would also never turn his back on a friend no matter what. STEVEN TAN, 19, STUDENT/PHOTOGRAPHER/FILMMAKER

I can relate to Dr. Strange since I want to become a surgeon and at the same time have tremendous powers. BLAS BAUTISTA, 19, STUDENT

Spiderman, because at a young age, he started having this great responsibility of saving his community from harm. Roughly around the same age Peter Parker became Spiderman, I started becoming active in community service. Although I am not a web-slinging superhero who fights criminals, I am someone who cares enough for our seas and oceans to do more than what is expected of me to become the hero we are all destined to be. KENNY SILUD, MARINE CONSERVATIONIST

I can relate to Tony Stark, the Ironman, not because of the fancy gadgets and the bad boy persona but his urgency to take it upon himself to protect everyone he loves at the cost of his own well being. On the other side of the coin is Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America. I see in him what I want to become—a beacon of hope and with an unwavering attitude to do what’s right. Rogers believes in freedom and in people, and I think that’s the greatest takeaway. HANS SINUGBUHAN, 23, IT SPECIALIST

The Marvel hero that I relate to the most is Black Widow since she bears the qualities of a strong and independent woman who stands by her principles, and fights for what she believes in. YELLEN ABARCA, 18, ATENEO DE CEBU STUDENT

Iron Man’ s intelligence and creativity transcends over his lack of inn ate supernaturalpowers. Aside from having the same favorite color, which is red, I am more like him in his goal to help other people by contributing whatever resources he has. GAIL ROLLAN, 20, VELEZ COLLEGE STUDENT
