Woman ‘tries to bribe’ Parian cops, nabbed
47-year-old woman was arrested inside the Parian Police Sta- tion, or Cebu City Police Station 1, for allegedly trying to bribe anti-narcotics operatives in exchange for the release of a drug suspect.
Chief Insp. Kenneth Paul AlA
botra, the station chief, identified the suspect as Yvonne Lyra Grandea Ho, who was handcuffed past 6 a.m. yesterday.
Captured on camera
The entrapment was captured by the police station’s closed circuit television (CCTV) camera.
The suspect gave P20,000 to PO2 Edgar Delos Santos and PO1 Nickson Miranda so 26-year-old Crisreb Padilla Chavez could be set free after he was caught in a drug bust in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Lorega San Miguel earlier at 3:30 a.m.
Albotra said they will never accept bribes or ask for money from arrested drug personalities, adding they will not repeat what PO3 Ritchie Squilabon did.
Saquilabon was caught in an entrapment last March by counter-intelligence officers for asking a P20,000-bribe from a drug suspect. His arrest resulted in the relief of his 43 fellow officers at Parian Police Station.
Meanwhile, Ho said the money was given to her by Chavez’s relatives so she could “negotiate” with the police. She also said she knew that what she did was illegal.
Ho will be charged for bribery. Albotra said they are studying to include Chavez’s mother in the complaint.
Chavez’s other alleged cohorts---Sarah Medes Rafols and Phillip Barillo Bregente---were also arrested. They will be facing drug complaints.
