Fertilizer producer targets organic farmers
Organic fertilizer producer Prathista Industries International Corp. is eyeing to capture a good slice of Central Visayas’ organic farming community.
Jocelyn Joven, business development officer at Prathista (Philippines), said they aim to help farmers boost their yield of up to 35 percent more in crops, rice, vegetables, and fruits by introducing to them the Prathista brand of organic fertilizers.
She said they are taking advantage of the high market awareness on organic farming as well as on the government’s strong push for agriculture.
Joven said they are introducing a better brand for organic fertilizer, one that will help meet export quality farm productivity at a better cost benefit ratio for farmers.
“We are a technology-driven company and we intend to make our technology accessible to our farmers here,” she said, adding that Prathista constantly improves its technology and is now on its “4G” nutritional fertilizers for sustainable farming.
Central Visayas’ agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing sector posted a healthy growth last year, a rebound from -0.2 percent in 2016 to seven percent this year, data from the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.
Agriculture and forestry logged the highest growth at 9.6 percent last year, a turnaround from -1.0 percent in 2016.
National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) 7 Director Efren Carreon said there was no major weather disturbance that affected the productivity last year.
Moreover, the government has infused interventions for the sector such as irrigation, farm-tomarket roads, as well as financial and technical support.
Joven said having a reliable brand of organic fertilizer could help the sector achieve its productivity targets.
Prathista Industries is an Indian-based multinational company and is a pioneer in fermentation technology that has adopted a first-of-its-kind concept of “waste into wealth” in the business of manufacturing and marketing eco-friendly bio technology products.
