DIFFERENT MOODS IN A WORKPLACE

- CHRISTIAN JAY B. QUILO / Writer

Like life in general, our mood in the workplace is a roller coaster ride. On good days, exciting and uphill. On other days, it’s a steep dip with a loop. Regardless of where we work and what we do, we don’t always have the same sentiments about our jobs every single day. Here are different moods we’ve all had at work—and please, don’t even try to deny.

Perky and Productive

The moment we wake up, we’re already psyched and ready to hit the ground running. As we enter the office, we greet everyone a good morning! Upon reaching our work station, we go straight to work with no distractions. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of being able to tick off each item in our to-do list for the day. Our boss would be proud.

Thinker-belle

In the middle of work, we pause and take time to reflect on very deep and profound thoughts. There are days when we just question ourselves, “Why am I even in this office?” or “Am I even good at my job?” Googling inspirational quotes to tweet or watching clips of pep talks get us through days when we’re a little more pensive than usual.

Just A Few More Minutes

“Let me just go through my Instagram for 10 minutes.” 10 minutes later: “It’s still a bit early. Maybe just another five minutes.” After 15 minutes of work: “That was pretty productive. I think I deserve a quick break.” After watching puppy videos for two hours and realizing our work is due in an hour: Adrenaline kicks in and voila, mission accomplished! That’s how we put the “pro” in procrastinate.

Too Much To Handle

Answering emails while talking to someone important over the phone on loudspeaker or pacing back and forth across the office while going through documents—it can get pretty crazy at the office. We’d use our feet to multitask if we could. In our heads, we’re practically begging for the day to end. “I just want to make it all go away!”

Here But Not Really

When we’ve been doing something for so long, it comes to a point where it becomes a routine, almost mechanical. We can do something without really putting much mental effort into it. We can go through the day absentmindedly without even realizing it’s time to clock out already. And what day is it today?
