Vindictiveness and arrogance

- BOBBY NALZARO bobby@sunstar.co.ph Without Cebu City, the most developed and progressive area in the entire metropolis, the Board’s plans are doomed to fail

The “former political has-been” has again displayed his arrogance. He snubbed the traffic summit held last Wednesday by the Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB) saying he does not want to be under a “fly-bynight” non-government organization.

The MCDCB is a coordinating body for Metro-wide planning and development created on April 2011 through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by local chief executives, heads of national government agencies and leaders of the private and civil society sector.

The creation of the MCDCB is a manifestation of the desire of public and private stakeholders to lead and plan for a collective future for Cebu. It aims to facilitate the formulation, coordination and monitoring of integrates development strategies, policies and standards for, initially, of Metro Cebu.

The traffic summit was meant to find “soft solutions” to the traffic problem in Metro Cebu pending all feasibility studies and debates on appropriate mass transport systems and basic infrastructure support. But the “former political has-been” lambasted the organizers of the summit as “pretending to be experts.”

Here he comes again showing his arrogance. How can he claim that he does want to be under with the Board? Does it have a proper organizational setup? I think there is none. If he want to lead the Board and put it under his control, then he should seek its chairmanship.

That is the problem with this guy. He thinks he is on top and people should bow to him.

Without Cebu City, the most developed and progressive area in the entire metropolis, the Board’s plans are doomed to fail. On the traffic problem, Cebu City if the most affected area. If it cannot properly handled the traffic its adjacent cities will be affected.

If he does not want to personally participate in the Board, why won’t he just send a representative? What the Board wants is coordination among local government units (LGUs) and other agencies and a unified approach to solve the traffic woes. He is not a team player because he is arrogant. Nagtuo siya ray bright unya ang uban mga amaw.

There are two kinds of campaigning, the positive one, which is to push for the platforms of government, and the negative one, whose highlight is black propaganda and character assassination.

Today is the last day of the campaign period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections. During the campaign period, we witnessed the ugly face of politics. Personal attacks and black propaganda were waged by all parties.

The “former political has-been” has admitted that he ordered the printing of flyers against reelectionist barangay captains allied with the opposition and who failed to liquidate the financial assistance given by City Hall during the Rama administration. He even filed criminal and administrative cases against these barangay officials before the Ombudsman.

The flyers it say: “Asa man ning maong kuwarta? Nganong wala man ka maka-liquidate? Imong

gibulsa?” Is this a negative campaign? What is the Comelec doing? Maayo pa kun inyong sabwan nang balaod kun dili mo maka-implementar. Inutil.
