CIT-U’s Villamor takes over as new Cesafi president

Cebu Institute of Technology-University’s Bernard Nicolas Villamor is the new president of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) after a board meeting the other night.

Villamor succeeds Rev. Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD, of the University of San Carlos (USC), who was the Cesafi president for the past three years.

The other officers elected for the 2018-2019 season are Atty. Paulino Yabao of the University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation as vice-president, Rev. Fr. Manuel Uy, SJ, of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu as secretary, and Frederick Ong III of Cebu Eastern College as treasurer.

The members of the board are Miranda, Rev. Fr. Cristopher Maspara, OAR, of University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), Clementino Diez of Velez College, Oscar Tuazon of Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), Rep. Gerald Anthony Gullas of University of the Visayas (UV), Fr. Honesto Geronimo, SDB, of Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), Atty. Augusto Go of University of Cebu, and Gilbert Braganza of Southweste­rn University (SWU)-Phinma.

Meanwhile, the new division in this season of Cesafi basketball, the Under-12 division, has been approved by the board. “We’re refining a few things that the board pointed out. We’ll release this and other new rules next week,” said Rico Navarro, a member of the Cesafi Athletics Directors group and recording secretary of the Cesafi board.

The Cesafi 2018-2019 season will kick off on Aug. 29.
