James to resume his kingly ways vs Boston?

It is actually a return bout between the two for this year’s 2018 Eastern Conference trophy, with Cleveland prevailing last year before relinquishing its crown to Golden State in the NBA Finals.

Six days of rest may have energized LeBron “King” James once more, restoring in all probability his venom that was essentially the chief ingredient in Cleveland dismissing Indiana and Toronto in succession in the Cavs’ march to the NBA Eastern Finals.

As the Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics begin their Conference crown duel on Monday (May 14, PHL Time), both sides are cognizant of the fact that a huge psychological edge awaits the winner of every Game One victor in any protracted series.

But I’d say Cleveland has the inside track as LeBron has proven time and again that he can make the Cavs win when he wills it. The one-week or so furlough could be crucial.

Listen to LeBron after Cleveland’s 128-93 Game 4 massacre of Toronto for the embarrassing 4-0 sweep of the Raptors that sealed the Cavs’ Finals encounter against Boston:

“I’m going to get a lot of rest from here on,” said LeBron, who could afford to score a second lowest 29 points in four games because his four fellow starters combined for 66 points in the series-clinching triumph.

When guys like J.R. Smith, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver and George Hill deliver the goods of their own, they make the job of winning easier for LeBron, who totaled 136 series points, adding his Game One 26 points, Game Two 43 and Game Three 38.

His prolific-prone performances against Toronto alone gave him a whopping 36-point per game clip going to the Conference Finals, a first-class headache of a stat to any team trying to stop LeBron, if not defeat Cleveland.

In the regular season, they split their first two encounters before Cleveland made it 2-1 with a 121-99 victory in Boston on Feb. 11.

It is actually a return bout between the two for this year’s 2018 Eastern Conference trophy, with Cleveland prevailing last year before relinquishing its crown to Golden State in the NBA Finals via a 4-1 rout.

The Warriors, with triple-threat Stephen Curry healthy again, seem secure thus far in their title-retention run, although they face a much-improved, James Harden-powered Houston squad in the Western Conference Finals.

Still, pundits put their money on a Warrior-Cav crown clash in the end.

Me? I seem to agree.
