PMA CADETS PAY TRIBUTE TO MOMS
Group performs first silent drill in Central Visayas this year. Cebu was their fifth port after performing in Palawan, Zamboanga City, Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City.
The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Masidlawin Class of 2020 dedicated their 11th silent drill performance to their mothers.
Their first drill in Central Visayas was held in the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Central Command headquarters located in Camp Lapu-Lapu, Barangay Apas, Cebu City yesterday morning.
“Before every drill, we pray. I gave thanks that today is Mother’s Day. I texted my mother earlier and gave my foster mother flowers,” said 22-year-old Joshua Gumer.
Gumera said that he was relieved that there was an improvement in their performance.
“We’ve been conducting exhibitions in different ports in Palawan, Zamboanga, Davao, Cagayan so Cebu is our fifth port. We’re happy even if the sun was hot,” he said.
Aida Alo, 39, Gumera’s aunt, who hails from Jagobiao, Mandaue City, watched his performance in his mother’s stead, as she was in Iligan City.
“His mother kept on calling, asking how his performance was. I told her that it was good and I had goosebumps while witnessing the exhibition,” she said.
She brought her whole family with her and said that watching the silent drill was part of their Mother’s Day celebration.
Carlo Wong, 22, another cadet, said that in every port, they were welcomed by the warmth of their foster parents.
Wong, who hails from Caloocan City, said that he also greeted his mother even if they were apart.
The PMA Masidlawin Class of 2020 is in Central Visayas to promote the academy.
They will perform another silent drill in the City of Naga’s sports field and oval at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15. /
