Leylam rules Mactan f’ball

Two-time Aboitiz Football Cup Men’s champion Leylam FC added another title in its trophy case after winning the Men’s Division of the 2nd Mactan Football Festival last weekend at the Benthel Asia School of Technology in Basak, Lapu-Lapu.

It was another all-Leylam FC affair, with Leylam FC A walking away with a close 2-1 victory over Leylam FC B.

Dan Villarico scored the opening goal for Leylam FC A, Rene Sanchez scored the equalizer before Veteran defender Ranulfo Colina scored the game-winning goal.

Leylam FC A beat Cebu Avengers, 2-0, in the quarterfin­als and then earned a ticket to the championsh­ips with a 1-0 win over Brothers FC.

Meanwhile, Brothers FC settled for third place with a 1-0 win over Metropolit­an FC.

Knowles FC bagged the BPO Men’s Division crown with a 1-0 win over San Miguel FC B, while Leylam FC settled for third place with a 2-0 victory over SCI Spartans.

The SCI Spartans took home the Women’s BPO title after ending up with the most points in the division which used the league format.

SCI finished with eight points with two wins and two draws, SSI ended up in second place with six points from a win and three draws, while the SCI Giants settled for third with four draws.

The University of San Carlos (USC) Alumni defeated Cebu North United, 3-0, for the 38-Above crown, while the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) edged out DB Liloan, 4-3, in a penalty shootout for the Under-17 title.

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHSAdC) defeated Look FC, 1-0, for the Under-15 crown, while the University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation (USPF) outlasted SAIS FC, 3-2, in a penalty shootout for the Under-13 title. /
