Cebuana gymnast Daniela Reggie Dela Pisa added another milestone in her young career, winning two gold medals in the 2018 Philippine National Games (PNG) in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Southern Plains, Canlubang, Laguna.

The incoming Grade 9 student of the University of Visayas (UV) captured two gold medals and four silver medals in the Juniors gymnastics in her first PNG stint last Sunday.

Dela Pisa won the individual gold medal in the club event and added another gold in the team event with teammates Jazeerah Arielle Ona of University of Cebu (UC) and Theresia Rhosse Regner of UV. Dela Pisa also snagged four silver medals in rhythmic gymnastics— ribbon, hoop, ball and clubs.

Dela Pisa, who garnered four gold medals in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Vigan City last month, was number two in the country’s junior rankings, making her one of the top prospects for the junior national team.

“It was her first PNG .We just competed and never thought of the outcome. It was a blessing that we won gold medals,” said Daniela Reggie’s mother, Darlene, who is also her coach.

The older Dela Pisa said that her daughter has received an offer to train in Manila from one of the coaches of the juniors national team.

“I and my husband are OK with her training in Manila because it’s an opportunity for her career. But we have to ask her grandmother first because she does not want her granddaughter to be in Manila,” she said.

The Cebu City junior gymnastics team garnered two golds and four silver medals, while the Seniors team accumulated two silvers and one bronze. /
