Track coach Ybañez to walk the talk in PNG

Cebuano athletes are preparing their selves for the Philippine National Game to be hosted by Cebu City, which opens tomorrow.

One athlete looking to carve his niche again in the national track scene is University of San Carlos coach and trainor Ernesto Ybañez.

One of his most memorable national competitions was in 2012 when he was named the most outstanding athlete of the national Private Schools Athletic Association.

Now as a coach, Ybañez said that he is looking forward to compete because he wants his athletes to see that he is walking the talk.

For this year’s PNG, Ybañez will be competing in the decathlon event.

Ybañez quoted.

Another athlete expected to bring home the bacon for Cebu is John Marvin Rafols, who won a gold medal in Asean Games held in Singapore. He is hoping to dominate in the triple jump and long jump events.

He is not only focusing to win the gold medal but also to beat his personal record.

“Usually mga national team gyud akong gi pangandaman, pero mas gi pangandaman nakog

pag ayo akong ugalingon kaymao ramn gyud akong kontra” Rafols said.

The Philippine national game will be co-hosted by the City of Cebu and the Province of Cebu, Philippines from May 19 to 25, 2018 and to be played in different venues like Danao City, Tabuelan City and Lapu-Lapu City.

Athletes from all over the Philippines will be pitting skills against each other.

Athletes from 70 local government units (LGUs) will be competing in thes weeklong sporting conclave. /
