Renowned fashion designer Philip Rodriguez shared that he is often inspired by movies, history, his family, love, people around him, and of course, his travels. For this year’s summer collection, he takes inspiration from his trip to the French Riviera, also known as the “Coast of Azure” (Côte d’Azur).
“My 2018 Summer Luxe Collection is inspired from my trip along the French Riviera one spring time. The drive started in Marseille, then to the lavender fields in Provence, the medieval town of Saint Paul de Vence, Èze, down to the glamorous Cannes, Saint-Tropez and finally the opulent Monaco,” he recalled. “In this collection, I used various silk brocade in pastel colors highlighted with gold leaf finish, silk illusion tulle with springtime floral lace appliqué and embroideries in wicker patterns.”
Of the collection, he considers the rust and gold shift gown with highlights of deep cowl and bubble back to be one of his favorites, which he shared is a tribute to French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy. “Of course, my favorite is the tiered gown with embroideries conjuring wicker lattices with floral lace appliqué,” he added.
Add the hats, chiffons and feathers for accents, this is a collection that not only expresses femininity, sophistication, beauty and confidence—it gives a glimpse of the famed tourist destination that speaks of glamor and elegance leaving everyone charmed.
