No, thank you: PRO 7 on Loot’s offer to search his house

Police Regional Office 7 Robert Quenery said that the police will only inspect the house of Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot if they gather enough evidence to connect him to the illegal drug trade.

Loot, a retired police general, is back in the limelight after he and another retired police general, Marcelo Garbo, were again tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte over the weekend as being involved in illegal drugs.

Loot, in return, offered to open his doors to the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7.

“That’s what he (Loot) says, but of course we’ll not go there for compliance lang na mag-inspect sa bahay niya but basically it’ll still be an aftermath of a deeper intelligence-gathering rather than just simply walking around his house,” Quenery said. “If you allow us to search your house, do you think we would find anything? Of course not. So basically, it should be intelligence-driven,” he said in Tagalog.

Quenery said that the President has various intelligence agencies under him.

“The President, being the commander-in-chief, would be in a position to acquire intelligence information from all sources of government agencies in law enforcement, the military and others. Yung kaniyang mga (His) pronouncements were based on these intelligence assessment kaya sa kaniyang public engagement nababanggit niya yun (that’s why he mentions these during his public engagements),” Quenery said.
